American Gods: The Tenth Anniversary Edition (2016)
“First published in 2001, American Gods became an instant classic, lauded for its brilliant synthesis of “mystery, satire, sex, horror, and poetic prose” (Washington Post) and as a modern phantasmagoria that “distills the essence of America” (Seattle Post-Intelligencer).
It is the story of Shadow—released from prison just days after his wife and best friend are killed in an accident—who gets recruited to be bodyguard, driver, and errand boy for the enigmatic trickster, Mr. Wednesday. So begins Shadow’s dark and strange road trip, one that introduces him to a host of eccentric characters whose fates are mysteriously intertwined with his own. For, beneath the placid surface of everyday life, a storm is brewing—an epic war for the very soul of America—and Shadow is standing squarely in its path.“

HAMILTON YOUNG WARD – VIDEO GAMES MADE REAL – THE UNREALITY PROJECT
Hamilton Young Ward is a videographer, designer and illustrator from Charlotte, North Carolina. He recently worked on what I truly think is a great project. The main idea is to take screenshots in video games and then use photographic darkroom techniques to print them, with the intention to create a push and pull feeling for the viewer : the landscape looks realistic to him but he knows that it’s not.
His thoughts on his project are really interesting : “As gamers we spend so much time in these worlds that they become real to us and that’s what I want to get across. This idea of the virtual world being the real one, the “unreality” of it all. By using hand processing in the dark room for these digital images, I’m bringing the image into our physical reality, I’m making it real. “You can see he used screenshots from GTA V and Fallout IV. The two processes used are lith printing (the black and white ones) and another process known as inkjet cyanotype. You can check the whole series on his website here.
Eyal Rosenthal - Star Wars Lightings
Eyal Rosenthal is a designer passionate by architecture, design and… Star Wars. He imagined those gorgeous lamps inspired by the main heroes of the cult trilogy.
Like an Ikea catalog, he gave them Swedish-like names and for credibility, paragraphs were added in google-translated Swedish with content from the original character’s Wikipedia page.
With a minimalist style, designed to look like something you’d put at home, while delicately catching the essence of the origin, these lighting fixtures will inspire every fan of Star Wars !
MIKE LEAVITT – KING CUTS ART SHOW AT JONATHAN LEVINE GALLERY
If you appear to be in New York in the next few days, you don’t want to miss this incredible art show atJonathan Levine Gallery. Sculptor artist Mike Leavitt pays tribute to the most incredible movie directors through gorgeous hand made wood sculpture. From James Cameron to Steven Spielberg, from Hitchcock to Woody Allen and Orson Welles, Mike Leavitt carved those amazing directors’ stories directly through their bodies.
“Great film directors get cut up. They take pains with the details, story, money and sacrifices to their vision. Their body succumbs to the pressure. So Mike Leavitt carved Tarantino, Kubrick, Scorsese and more physically consumed by their work. Hitchcock, Coppola and others are cut from blocks of wood like directors cut a take or reel. There’s a risk of mistakes with every slice. Directors commit to a story at every cut. Leavitt unmasks wizards behind the camera like Spielberg and David Lynch to get a taste of their own medicine. ‘King Cuts’ are totems of satire and devotion to the 16 best storytellers ever.”
Amazing work.

Luke Chueh is an american artist well known for his depressive bears series. He got his start when the Los Angeles underground art show, Cannibal Flower, invited him to show at their monthly events. Since then Chueh has quickly worked his way up the ranks of the LA art scene, establishing himself as an artist not to be ignored. Employing minimal color schemes, simple animal characters, and a seemingly endless list of ill-fated situations, Chueh stylistically balances cute with brute, walking the fine line between comedy and tragedy. Chueh’s work has been featured in galleries around the world, and some of his paintings have also been reinterpreted into vinyl toys.
This is the case with this absolutely awesome Bat-Bear statue, inspired by a 2008 painting, that will be on sale on Mighty Jaxx the 4th of June, limited to 200 exemplaries.
